Its mission is to recognize the nation's outstanding vocalists while promoting the essence of traditional western classical
opera and oratorio. It also provides opportunities for vocalists, especially the ones from Asia, to learn Cantata.
Competition Rules:
1. Competition is open for all competitors over 18.
2. Singers will compete in one of three Divisions( Note: Proof of age, which may include a driver’s license, birth
certificate, or passport):
Lower Division: ages 18-24 Upper Division: ages 25-30 Advanced Division: ages 31 - older
3. Repertoires:
A. Opera/Art Song Category: All Division singers will be prepared to perform two selections: one Opera Aria and
one Art Song from the standard Western European and/or American literature. Russian and Spanish language
literature is also acceptable. Total time must not exceed 15 minutes.
B. Oratorio Category: All Division singers will be prepared to perform one selection which, must not exceed 8
minutes.
4. Singers will be responsible for securing their own accompanists in the competition.
5. All stages of the competition may be recorded and/or video recorded as authorized by the competition organizing
committee, which retains the exclusive rights of all audio and video recordings.
Application and Related Information:
1, A complete application must with three copies of recent. Two passport photos, and a photocopy of applicant’s
identification card or passport
2, A complete application form and application fee of $60 (nonrefundable) make checks payable to
United Association of American Musicians 72 N. 5th Street, San Jose, CA 95112
3, Competitors can use any edition of repertories.
4, All stages of the competition may be recorded and/or video recorded as authorized by the competition organizing
committee, which retains the exclusive rights of all audio and video recordings. Recording or video tapping during
the competition is strictly forbidden.
5, Competitors are required to wear proper dress during competition.
6. The competition is open to the public, free of charge.
